Blog Time

Ok kids, children, grandchildren, people that act like children; gather around for blog time. I really dont have much to blog about tonight. Watching Dane Cook....this guy is a nut job, but a funny nut job. Had a good 4th of July. Drank too much with friends-family and tried to take part of the day to remember a friend and mentor that was lost. Not going to dwell on that tonight, there is enough shit in life already. Who of us makes it though life without having a mentor? I mean a true mentor, somebody that takes you by the ears from day one and starts to mold you into something that he/she thinks you should strive to be. Also, it cant be a family member. Also, do we really need mentors?

So on the music scene my #1 is coming out with a new CD and side project. Please take the time to buy it up. The name of the band is "One Day as a Lion". Here is how thought provoking this dude is....here is his explanation of the band:

“One Day As A Lion is both a warning delivered and a promise kept.”

“A defiant affirmation of the possibilities that exist in the space between kick and snare. It’s a sonic reflection of the visceral tension between a picturesque fabricated cultural landscape, and the brutal socioeconomic realities it attempts to mask. One Day As A Lion is a recorded interaction between Zack de la Rocha and Jon Theodore from Los Angeles, California.”

“The name taken from the infamous 1970 black and white, captured by legendary Chicano photographer George Rodriguez featuring a center framed tag on a white wall in an unspecified section of Boyle Heights. It reads: ‘It’s better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a lamb.’ This record is a stripped down attempt to realize this sentiment in sound.”

Powerful.

Please keep all eyes out for me on CNN the week of the DNC. More to come.

Later.

LORD I MUST HAVE BEEN BLIND said...

I am in total favor and belief in mentors..I have had several only because I am much older than you..Beverly Engle, Dr. Dave, Mr. Ratcliff, to name a few...why can't it be a family member? Gma Ethel was one of mine anyway...i don't have to play by your rules!!!
