Heidis Marathon
After months of long runs, lots of doubts and reflection I finished another milestone conquoring the 26.2 mile beast. In my training and then running a marathon I realized that I am not special or unique anyone can do what I did today, it is all a matter of setting your mind to something and not STOPPING (literally today) until your reach that goal. I know this even more today than ever after seeing all the different people competing not against eachother but against the "beast!" There was an older couple, saying older kindly, that was shuffle along the marathon together to be the very last to finish, but they finished! Anyone can do what I did today, it all goes back to my mauntra to get through all those long runs "I CAN FOR THOSE WHO WON'T"

Old Revolutionary to the New
For you T-Man.
The deputy sheriffs, the soldiers, the governors get paid,
And the marshals and cops get the same,
But the poor white man's used in the hands of them all like a tool.
He's taught in his school
From the start by the rule
That the laws are with him
To protect his white skin
To keep up his hate
So he never thinks straight
'Bout the shape that he's in
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game.
From the poverty shacks, he looks from the cracks to the tracks,
And the hoof beats pound in his brain.
And he's taught how to walk in a pack
Shoot in the back
With his fist in a clinch
To hang and to lynch
To hide 'neath the hood
To kill with no pain
Like a dog on a chain
He ain't got no name
But it ain't him to blame
He's only a pawn in their game.
Today, Medgar Evers was buried from the bullet he caught.
They lowered him down as a king.
But when the shadowy sun sets on the one
That fired the gun
He'll see by his grave
On the stone that remains
Carved next to his name
His epitaph plain:
Only a pawn in their game.

?
If you are up there watching tonight would be a good night for one of these....
life is much too short
to sit and wonder
who's gonna make the next move
and will slowly pull you under
when you've always got
something to prove
i don't want to wait a lifetime
yours or mine
can't you see me reaching
for the lifeline
you say that i misheard you
but i think you misspoke
i hear you laugh so loudly
while i patiently await the joke
i don't want to wait a lifetime
not yours
not mine
can't you see me reaching
for the lifeline
it's a crime with only victims
we're all laid out in a row
and it's hardest to listen
to what we already should know
i could hold out for a lifetime
yours or mine
yours and mine
can't you see me reaching for
your lifeline
life is much too short
to sit and wonder
who's gonna make the next move
and will slowly pull you under
when you've always got
something to prove
i don't want to wait a lifetime

I Give!!!
Ok. I am in need of reading more about this but before I read about it I have to talk it through with somebody. Blogging world you are here to listen. I might sound like an old grandpa, but I dont care. I remember when gas prices were .99 in Tulsa growing up. Now I am going to give the benefit of the doubt that Oklahoma had very low gas prices. I was probably 16-18 years old when this was taking place. For sake of argument I am going to say that the average in those times was around $1.20 per gallon.
SO that was lets say 15 years ago. Here are the only 2 logical explanations as to why gas prices have doubled and in some cases probably tripled.
a. Our supply is getting lower.
b. We are all taking it up the prostrate zone.
Now lets take "a". There is the argument that we have become more dependant on oil. Seriously, so you are telling me that in 15 years we depend on 3 times as much oil as we used to. So to make that argument you would have to almost say that the population has more than doubled in those 15 years. Is that possible? Cant use the excuse of bigger trucks, blah, blah blah. We have to give credit to ourselves and hope that our trucks, cars, planes and all are more efficient now than 15 years ago. Not just efficient on gas, but on all aspects.
Now lets take the argument that we are more dependant on oil. If we do away with oil as much as possible wont whatever we use in its place cost us more anyway. Take Hybrid cars as an example, although a bad one. Hybrid cars are about $4-5,000 more than regular cars. Now either you spend an extra 4-5000 in fuel each year due to gas prices or you spend that money on a Hybrid. Either way its effecting your pocket. Now maybe an argument is that it cost more in the short term, but its better for the long term. Then the next argument will be that their is still a better solution than the Hybrids and should be an all electrical car. So my questions is when does this vicious circle stop or better yet will it ever stop?
This is what would be called the fall of an empire. When an empire gets to its crescent, then what else does it have to do otehr than eat itself out from the inside. In other words the empire starts to turn on itself. Have we as a nation begun to fall into that cycle?
That leaves us to option "b". I don't honestly think its the oil companies sticking it to us. Lets take the supply and demand metaphor. If in our industry (relocation) our trucks began to vanish and the supply of moving trucks went away what is the first thing that would happen? We would raise our costs. Oil companies are raising their cost in order to facilitate the demand as the supply starts to vanish. Do they need to raise it that high? who knows. Who do I blame? US Government. I am sure you all know that on every dollar you pay at the pump the government is getting paid. Here in CO we pay over .20 per gallon to the state. Then we also pay $.18 to the Federal Government. While I dont agree with McCain on much of anything what he is talking about doing is taking away these taxes for the summer in order to get some money back into our pockets. Makes sense.
All I know is that somebody is making a ton of profit, we are paying a ton of money, and somehow our nation is going to hell in 2 hand baskets. Will somebody please throw us in the "middle class" a f-in bone!

TBK
One of the most remarkable shows I have ever been able to view and to top it all off got to see it with Big Bro and Dad. Nobody other than RATM and PJ can put on a great sounding show like these guys. This is not from the show, but hopefully I can find one soon from the show.
The night/afternoon started at a restaurant called the Irish Snug. Dropped a couple Guinness. Then our travels took us to Sanchos Broken Arrow. Its a Greatful Dead bar that we knew dad would love. Good tunes and just good people. Always great to sit at the bar and look at all their stickers.
During our stay at Sanchos we met another poster buddy from Expresso Beans. His name was Dave and he invited us to a little "speak easy". It was a very small room under a cigar shop. Weird vibe in there, but it was cool. Dad stayed upstairs and smoked a cigar or one of his 123 cigs for the day/night and read the paper....ehhhhhh Grandpa Hump style. From there we wondered right next door to the Ogden. No poster for the show which was by far the worst part of the night.
Opener was Jay Reatard and we could have done without him. Black Keys rocked out all of the great songs as well as had a stellar light show going on during the songs. One of my top 5 shows in my life. Hope to see them again as soon as possible. Enjoy.

Ramblings
T.V. Please somebody tell me what in gods name did people do with out it. Direct TV has scored me another blow this week. My receiver went kaput. I now get the privilege to have some nerd squad dude come out her, plug in one wire and charge me $80.00. We are having some major IT issues this week with the T.V. being out (worst part is no A. Idol tonight) and Heidi's Dell computer from 1978 taking a dive. Debating with brothers about buying an apple. I will have meetings, teleconferences and send memos to myself until I figure it out.
We also have a house full of dudes, chicks, and family this week. T-man, this is yet another reason to do away with Spring Break. Its nice to have Beverly in town to see Brooke, but for her to bring all citizens of Tulsa County with her is a bit much and kind of ruins her time that she could spend with Brooke. Anywho.....
I have started to read my first book by Noam Chomsky. Let me be the first to tell you, this dudes thoughts are off this hemisphere and nearly impossible to understand. I am reading a book he wrote, actually its somebody interviewing him, about 9-11. Just about every section I have to read twice to understand, kind of like algebra. Cant explain, just read a book or Google him and lean about how smart this Holmes actually is. I also have started to watch the mini-series on HBO called John Adams. Very, very good. I love history and love to see how this entire nation came about. Th epart last week with George Washington being selected to command the very first army to liberate us from the king was amazing drama. Just think if you were in that room, although I am fairly sure they didnt think their decisions would spawn a show called Jackass. Very good mini-series directed by Tom hanks and so far I would recommend to anybody. Might read that book once I am done reading Noam 5 times to get the gist of it all. Anywho...
What else? Brooke starts soccer this week. I get to finally see my first gig in Denver (Serj) and the concert season starts off with a bang. Waiting on pins and needles hoping that RATM, PJ, Radiohead and others make there way here. So far we have Serj Tankian, Black Keys and Foo Fighters on the bill to see. Anywho....
I guess that's all I got. You made it through no videos and lyrics. Just ramblings.

Voices
One of these days you might all get lucky and I will post a blog with no music. But its getting more and more doubtful. I need live music very, very quickly. This guy creaping up my list of must see again artists. So powerful in his voice and just look at the expressions on his face when he sings. It must be nice to love and belive in something that much.

All Over
The countdown is over. Dad wins. There are now only 3 units left in the Humphreys Family that are capable of carrying on the gene pool. Other than the mental aspect of the surgery it actually went pretty well. New procedure (for those 3 left) does not put you under and you are in and out within 15 min. I wont go into the detail because some of you might be having breakfast this morning. But I will scare you and let you know there were tools and needles involved that you might see in the movies Saw. I did wuss out and take a vallium before the procedure, which helped out a lot.
I needed some laughs and found these last night and was crying I was laughing so hard...

TMV
One of the better guitar solos I have heard live by Omar. In case you cant understand below are the words.
"Transient jet lag ecto mimed bison This is the haunt of roulette dares Ruse of metacarpi, caveat emptor To all that enter here.
Open wrist talk back again In the wounded of its skin They’ll pinprick the witness In ritual contrition The AM trinity Fell upon asphyxia Derailed, In the rattles of Made its way through the tracks of a Snail slouching whisper A half ass commute through Umbilical blisters. Specter will lurk, radar has gathered Midnight neuces from boxcar cadavers.
Exoskeletal junction at the railroad, delayed It’s because this is…..."

Viva La US
Forgot this sets the stage for the below.
Arise ye workers from your slumbers
Arise ye prisoners of want
For reason in revolt now thunders
And at last ends the age of cant.
Away with all your superstitions
Servile masses arise, arise
We'll change henceforth the old tradition
And spurn the dust to win the prize.
So comrades, come rally
And the last fight let us face
The Internationale unites the human race.
No more deluded by reaction
On tyrants only we'll make war
The soldiers too will take strike action
They'll break ranks and fight no more
And if those cannibals keep trying
To sacrifice us to their pride
They soon shall hear the bullets flying
We'll shoot the generals on our own side.
No saviour from on high delivers
No faith have we in prince or peer
Our own right hand the chains must shiver
Chains of hatred, greed and fear
E'er the thieves will out with their booty
And give to all a happier lot.
Each at the forge must do their duty
And we'll strike while the iron is hot.
Arise ye workers from your slumbers
Arise ye prisoners of want
For reason in revolt now thunders

Politics of Life
Sleeping on the couch tonight hoping that Jake shits out another foreign object. If not we go under the knife again tomorrow. Hopefully he sleeps tonight. It anything happens to him further he will have to go to sleep for a while. Going to be a long night with my canine buddy. Listening to this song on my POD. By the way, one of the best song writers of my generation.
Radio Friendly Unit Shifter
Use just once and destroy
Invasion of our piracy
Afterbirth of a nation
Starve without your skeleton key
I love you for what I am not
I do not want what I have got
A blanket acne'ed with cigarette burns
Speak at once while taking turns
Second-rate third degree burns
What is wrong with me
What is what I need
What do I think I think
This had nothing to do with what you think
If you ever think at all
Bi-polar opposites attract
All of a sudden my water broke
Hate, hate your enemies
Save, save your friends
Find, find your place
Speak, speak the truth

Decade
Well tomorrow, or today, maybe yesterday depending on when you read this; I will have been married to a girl for 10 years. Known her for more than 13, will continue to know her until I die. She is my only friend, best friend, lover, mother. I can remember when I first thought..."hmmm she is pretty hot, short, stubby, athlete, outsider.....definite maybe." She was sitting in the bleachers with her friend Mary. They were two peas in a pod and the only way to get into their circle was to be friends with both. You were not getting in that ring unless they both agreed that you belonged. I have no idea how but somehow I made it in. That was how the relationship started. She is going to feed you with some b.s. that she actually asked me out. Not so fast. I was playing hard to get and wanted to break down her ring and the only way in was for her to make the first move. I agreed, we held hands, we kissed, we ........ and it was all worth it. She wont believe this but I do remember our first kiss on the front porch of her moms house. I think. It was either there or at some stupid church camp that our Nazi school made us attend. HE HE.
Good and bad. Worse time was when I had to call Jim to ask for his approval. He and Jayne chewed my arse. I remember getting off the phone and thinking "alright, (breath, breath) now what in the hell am I supposed to do." The one thing about our marriage is that neither one of us are afraid of doing things together. She flew into Wausau got a chance to see my bachelor pad full of pizza boxes and marked with puke in my bedroom. This pad was a sweet 3 story pad. We were on the middle story and I was sitting by my computer desk when I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. I know, I know. I am one of the most romantic bastards you have ever met.
10 years later here we are. I could go on, and on about memories that I have but I think I already have the record of the longest blog and this one is probably going to be close.
Heidi if you read this I cant wait to share the next 10 years with you as we watch our child grow, live in a great city for a long time, and grow closer to each other. As you know I dont blog usually without lyrics. These are meant for you Heidi....
my beloved one
your eyes shine through me
you are so divine to me
your heart has a home in mine
we won't have to say a word
with a touch all shall be heard
when i search my heart it's you i find
my beloved one
you were meant for me
i believe you were sent to me
from a dream straight into my arms
hold your body close to me
you mean the most to me
we will keep each other safe from harm
my beloved one

2007....Keep It.
I guess today is the day to blog about everything we went through in 2007. I am going to sum it all up by talking about today. Fuck the past its worthless unless you learn from it and grow from it. 2007 for me and I will speak for my family might have been a turning point in all our lives. I went through things that changed me as a person and things I should have learned from the past. Heidi is now in a better place in her life and in a mental place that she can thrive. Brooke started a new chapter in yet another AND LAST new city. Jake....well that brings us to today. Hanging by a thread and still looking for that lifeline. Back at the Dr's office with now something stuck in his stomach. No idea what it is but I am sitting here waiting for a phone call. Worked out as hard as I have worked out in a long time today and cried for him. I think I was actually crying for the entire year all wrapped up in one stupid day. Today.
Like Josh, I will not be feeling or possibly remembering anything tonight. If there is a ball that drops hopefully it drops and smashes 2007 into smithereens!!! There will be lyrics at the end of this blog so don't worry. 5 Things we/I will be doing in 2008:
1. Lose 10-15 lbs. Weight 185 now and have to get further away from 200. 200 scares me.
2. Save Money.
3. Brooke took more of an interest in b-ball, and has helped me get back into it by going with me to the gym to shoot. She rebounds (most important part in b-ball) and I shoot. I want to spend more time with her shooting and me rebounding.
4. Love Heidi. Jan 10th will be 10 years. Oh My.
5. Work smarter, Not harder.
So here are the lyrics that I promised you. Just sums up how I feel today and felt in 2007.
make me feel like a beggar
make me feel like a thief
make me feel like a battle that cannot end in peace
make me feel like running as if i've lost my nerve
make me feel like crying tears i don't deserve
is this really living
sometimes it's hard to tell
or is this just a kinder, gentler hell
turn out the lights and let me stare into your soul
i was born and bled for you to hold
please bleed
so i know that you are real
so i know that you can feel
the damage that you've done
who have i become
to myself i am numb
never said thank you
never said please
never gave a reason to believe
so as it stands i remain on my knees
good lovers make great enemies

Not so Merry...

How sad is this on Christmas! As I continue to blog my way into the world record of consecutive blogs....I had to blog about this. My buddy is down for the count. The world got the best of him; all his cheer, wagging of tails, sniffing of everything has come to a creaching halt for the next 30 days. Stitches in one paw with the half bandage, then a possible broken toe on the other leg. Its currently in a splint. X-rays were negative, but too much swelling to be for sure. How? We have no idea. Cut on the paw happend because of our landscaping in the back yard.
Saddest part of the whole deal was having to sign at the Vets office a YES or a NO on if I wanted them to perform CPR. Well fuck me running, why wouldnt I right? I asked the nurse and she said read the top and I quote "In the event my pet is to go into cardiac and/or respiratory arrest my desire for CPR is as follows ***Additional fees of $150 or GREATER will be accrued when performing CPR." Very cruel joke from the same world that took his traits away.
Somebody throw him a LIFELINE

First listen to Ambulance Blues by Neil Young in the dark tonight with candles. Next PLEASE find this song (Amen Omen) sung live by Ben Harper and listen to his pain.
what started as a whisper
slowly turned into a scream
searching for an answer
where the question is unseen
i don't know where you came from
and i don't know where you've gone
old friends become old strangers
between the darkness and the dawn
amen omen
will i see your face again
amen omen
can i find the place within
to live my life without you
i listen to a whisper
slowly drift away
silence is the loudest
parting word you never say
i put your world
into my veins
now a voiceless sympathy
is all that remains
what started as a whisper
slowly turned into a scream
searching for an answer
where the question is unseen
i don't know where you came from
and i don't know where you've gone
old friends become old strangers
between the darkness and the dawn
amen omen
will i see your face again
amen omen
can i find the place within
to live my life without you
i listen to a whisper
slowly drift away
silence is the loudest
parting word you never say
i put your world
into my veins
now a voiceless sympathy
is all that remains

Tyler Durden
Since the last couple have been mind numbing long. I figured I would leave you with some great quotes from one of the greatest movies ever. I would tell you what movie it is but Rule #1 is that you dont talk about it....Rule #2 you dont talk about it...
"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off."
Warning: If you are reading this then this warning is for you. Every word you read of this useless fine print is another second off your life. Don't you have other things to do? Is your life so empty that you honestly can't think of a better way to spend these moments? Or are you so impressed with authority that you give respect and credence to all that claim it? Do you read everything you're supposed to read? Do you think every thing you're supposed to think? Buy what you're told to want? Get out of your apartment. Meet a member of the opposite sex. Stop the excessive shopping and masturbation. Quit your job. Start a fight. Prove you're alive. If you don't claim your humanity you will become a statistic.
You have been warned- Tyler
