Soccer Queen

Soccer was very exciting this weekend. Lightening was down by about 100 when our little princess was set for a center kick, she fired away and sure enough scored our teams first and only goal! You should have seen the look of excitement and shock on her face. Of course her coach then asked why she had been holding back all game. We were very proud parents!

Other than that highlight, we also suffered all weekend with no A/C in the house. Of course the guy came to fix it today and it was a breaker switch. Who would have thought that the air unit would have run even without power? Thanks to my stupidity our daughter got to sleep in the basement last night. You are probably all saying "What was it like 80 degrees or something?" Not so fast. It was a smoldering 92 degrees all weekend.

It was also nice to hear some relief in my brothers voice this weekend while he was on tour with PJ. Good times for him. I cant wait to see them in MN next month. Should be a good show.

Oh my gosh I am getting OLD

Ok, Heidi blogging here... Yesterday was Kindergarten orientation day and believe it or not I held back the tears, barely. We started off the day with a trip down the lunch line followed by a talk from the Principle Kepke (who looks very young to be a principle) then the children were released to teachers for an afternoon in the classroom. I was left without my little side kick looking around at all the other parents wondering why I was the only one looking on the verge of tears. I don't know what I am going to without Brooke each day. Not only is she my friend but she is a great help. For instance, on "cleaning house day" she dusts, cleans the toilets and mops the kitchen and when I am caught in my car frantically looking for my sunglasses she so kindly tells me "they are on your head." Don't get me wrong there are days when I want to ring her little neck but all in all I can't believe my baby is growing up. She is very excited about school and is already a social little butterfly. We had another big accomplishment yesterday when Brooke mastered the monkey bars all by herself! It was an eventful day at the Humphrey's household!

Summertime

Its been a while and I think my brain has been revamped and ready for the summertime. Yes, its finally summer time here although we had a freeze warning this morning. Its supposed to be back in the high 70's this week. Lots of summertime activities in the Wausau household. Driveway being put in, grass being planted, etc. Heidi and Brooke are getting ready for their 2-3 week excursion to Des Moines for a run with friends. She was pretty stoked on Sunday with her 10 mile run. She has this cool Garmin GPS deal now that tells here how far she has gone, how fast she is going, all kinds of average, and a bunch more of cool stuff. From there she will be going to T-town to see family. Work has finally gotten crazy, I hate to say it but this is the time at work that separate the haves from the have nots. Gotta find a way to get it done.

Everybody seemed to like my "wanna be friends" statement. Seriously, since I have moved so many times over my lifetime my true friends are right here in this house. We do have a couple of GREAT friends but my job has managed to take those away as well. By the way we got stood up, I guess they didn't hear the phone ring. All the better.

Fuel for the mind

Well thanks to the poll on JD's website and thanks to the gas guzzling creature I drive we are on the straight and narrow pass to bankruptcy. We saw gas yesterday in the Northwoods of $2.92 a gallon. The funny part is that on our drive to the "real world" (more later) we saw a small corn farm in which some dude had built his own gas station and the price for corn fed gasoline was $1.82. UD if you are reading this help a brother out!!! Have your boss chip back a couple of those millions he received in a bonus last year. Like they say up here "Cripes"!! So, yesterday I took the family on a ride back into the real world. Not MTV, but an actual town with actual malls, movie theaters, restaurants, Chuck E Cheese, etc. We took a drive down to the Fox Valley (Appleton, Oshkosh) yesterday and Heidi was in hog heaven. We went to the outlet mall, regular mall and Chuck E. Cheese's joint and all got what we wanted. Hustle and bustle of actual people that have a clue as to style, or what's going on in today culture, weird. Exciting for Heidi, although it made her really miss Des Moines and her friends.

Well we have a busy summer coming up from Heidi going back to IA to run in a race with her friends to numerous other places. G-ma and G-pa are coming up towards the end of June so that will be nice to see them again. I am going to try to fish in some local tournaments this summer and hopefully with any luck do alright in them. As far as the last post I did not get the flu, BUT I hooked up with Mark last weekend and Gracie had strepp throat. So as my body was fighting off the flu in our house, it let down its guard for just a bit to allow Gracies germs in. Or at least that is what I am telling myself.

Holy sappiness

Wow. Not sure if I can come close to the depth of the rest of the family, but what about the questions we think we have already answered. Doesn't everything in life come from some sort of faith? We all think we know the answers to basic questions but do we?. You want to get deep about personal thoughts always talk to your kids. Their simple minds are what we all strive for as adults daily. Like them we should question everything we are confronted with until we are comfortable with the answer. If you think Hendrix is deep try song writer Maynard Keenan..."comfort is a mystery crawling out of my own skin." I am in the mood for another tattoo!!!

Enough deep shit for one day. Everybody is sick in this house. Heidi and Brooke are both sick with temps in the 100's. They went to the doctor and of course we pay about 600 per month to turn around and pay another 25 bucks to then have the doctor explain to them they have the flu. Very scientific prognosis. Even better they prescribed some potent cough medicine with a side effect of being nauseous. She ended up puking all night long. Wouldn't you rather just have a cough than puke? The doctor also said that its only a matter of time before I get it, but I am holding strong. I think its all mental and I refuse to get the flu. We will see. I am sure tonight Earl's karma will settle in for a long weekend. Those who are not watching My Name is Earl need to be evaluated by the same doctor.

5 and Counting

Wild weekend. Mom, Dad, and Josh all in town for Brooke's 5th b-day. Actually they were able to write it off to Uncle Dave Graebel. I guess there was some business that was accomplished. It was a good time; drunken nights, political talks, and birthday cake, perfect. Brooke would have had a great b-day with Mimi in town, but the 101-103 temperature but a damper on some of the fun. Although I am sure Mimi enjoyed it anyway. Vacation days were a good relief while they were in town. I needed a couple of days off. Took Josh and Dad fishing on Saturday a.m. and ended up with about 10 total fish with 4 keepers, all Walleye. They tasted splendid on the grill last night. There was a slight malfunction with our computer on Friday afternoon and I thought Josh was going to cry. He was trying to get Pearl Jam tickets on line for the Denver shows and for some reason couldnt get logged on with our computer. Could have been drastic, but all was avoided by using a cell phone. Brooke would like to tell everybody thanks for the b-day gifts and cards. She loved everything from her own credit cards, to her own personal butterfly wings. Women. Back to work for me and back to reality for Brooke and Heidi this week. Two things to think about before the next blog.....1. Will Heidi ever become an official blogger? and 2. Are we truly paying for anything out of our own pockets for illegal immigrants? Full report soon.

My ticket out!

After the long awaited 10 comments mostly from mom wishing that it was another grandchild, attached you see the new addition to the family. She is a well oiled machine and as you can see already begun to produce. Used her for the first time fishing this weekend and limited out on Walleye's in about an hour and a half. Very sweet. Move over Jimmy Houston, Tony Dean, etc. here I come!!

Weather has finally allowed most people to get out of their homes and begin to co-exist with each other. Temp has been and is going to stay in the high 40's and 50's over the week. We are looking forward to having a house full of family next week with Josh, Mom and Dad all being in town. Josh for business and Mom and Dad for her birthday. Her being my daughter not the boat. Five years old going on fifteen. I thought 30 was bad, but 5??? How about getting to know that you begin school for the next 13 hopefully 17 years. As I write this actually 30 is worse, knowing that I get the PRIVILEGE of working for the next 25+ years. Not good.

On the Heidi front she is becoming a running machine. She is planning on running a marathon in Des Moines with some old friends of ours this summer. So, she has been training like a mad man.

New addition to the family

After the results from the most previous poll, it is now official. We have added another family member to our household. Three good things: 1. It wont talk back. 2. It doesn't wear its emotions on its sleeve. 3. It doesn't get up at 5:30 every morning. New pictures will be posted soon. Had one of my first experiences to have an actual conversation with Mr. Graebel. "You had me at hello" for me it was "You lost me at "I love you and your family." The only thing I could think of while I talked with him was Christopher telling Adriana (Sopranos) that "he was and will always be a soldier." You would have to be a Sopranos watcher to know what I am talking about, if you are not on that band wagon I suggest you throw your TV away because its a useless appliance. Not much else going on in Central Wisconsin, just waiting for the weather to get above 35 degrees so we call all come out of hibernation, so keep an eye on our weather below. More soon...

Nothing Better

As a dad that loves the outdoors, it doesn't get any better than this. This has become an every weekend tradition for Brooke and I. This weekend was a grand total of 8 Bluegills and 4 Perch. The first time we were out, she pulled a crappie up that barely fit through the hole. I told here it was a "dandy", so from there on out every fish that came out I got asked if it was a "dandy". Then of course this weekend I asked her what she would like to catch and she said very seriously "Just a couple dandy's." Redneck or not this takes the cake!

Moving Day? Possibly

Well now that everybody that has access to this highly secure webiste knows that we might be moving again. Seriously, quit shaking your head. We have shaken and banged our heads enough for everybody. Minneapolis......what can you say except for the fact that we just sold our other house last Thursday. Not a bad city for Brooke to grow up in, decent sports teams, great hunting and fishing, actual concerts to see that don't include a polka band, etc. Nice to live close to old friends, not nice for him to think of me as his boss. Is this company that 3/4 of our family work for along with a decent majority of our friends really worth it? I can already see mom.."Hell, no. Your father.........All his life........Never home.........." Chill mom. What can we do how can we help? How about having a fucking clue as to what you are doing before you do it, and how about having a damn backbone when previous rejects that have their wank so far...... Just one second the FCC is calling. I guess enough venting for the night. Check back later this week for a possible decision on where we might be living. I have to ecsape the world I live in and watch some teenager try to sing on American Idol.

First Tooth

For those of you that missed the previous BLOG. I crashed the first one that came out so here is the new and improved version. This was Brooke's first tooth that came up missing. Tooth fairy came and went and left a whole 4 quarters. Times are tough in the Northwoods.
